It really does look like a scene from NES Mario Cart! Drifting through snow at 20 mph in these little power wheels would be sweet. As they are modified for adult use(?) Will update with how they actually did it later with my Google sleuthing skill.
edit: he said, “just buy an engine, some metals and go to town!”
I found a neat new vehicle. The Deep Flight Super Falcon is a cross between a submarine and a fighter jet. Mechanically it works much more like an airplane than a traditional submarine. While submarines change the ballast of the ship to make it sink, the Super falcon uses its wings much like the aerodynamics of an airplane. For the low price of 1.3 million you too can park this right off of your mega yacht!!

in relation to the last post on The World Builder film, This is for you Half-Life 2 geeks out there. This short live-action was made by the Toronto based film makers, the “Purchase Brothers” based on the popular Half-Life 2 video game. The youtube clip has been played more than 2 million times since it’s debut a month ago and probably explains why the clip was so popular even among non-gamers crowd. It was very well made considering the CAD $500 budget (around $400 US) while still retaining the polished quality you’d normally see from big sponsored Sci-Fi studios. The story features two rebel soldiers escaping from City 17 chased down by Combine militants when the city’s about to explode!!! Talent film made in no time, no budget and like…2 actors. wow
Just like the Star Trek’s Holodeck, where you are free to create things in holograms and live in anyway you want (think matrix + Rhino + 3DsMax?). This virtual reality film called, “World Builder” stayed in post-production for 2 years after being shot in just one day. It sums up how much visual effects you are about to see. The concept was brought to light in a non-commercial thoughtful manner, which I like a lot.
Princeton University’s Student Design Agency put together a day long conference on campus simply called the Better Conference, where they invited a handful of schools from across the United States to attend. This is a conversation about designers, graphic designers in particular making a difference in the world and are here in inspire and challenge the next generation of designers to step up to make a difference.

“How do you do good work? And how do you get clients to buy good work?” - Jeffery Zeldman
The seven pointers to succeed as a designer in the business world,”Build trust, listen, educate, have a process, build the relationship before you show design, research produce achievable goals and research makes you a credible partner.”
Here is another of his tips, “Learn to smell trouble - listen for ‘bad date’ vibes.” and “Your emergency is not my problem.”

Building upon our great and successful conference last November, we are reaching for bigger goals in 2009. We meet briefly today with students from both Brown and RISD discussing our plans for this year.
Steve’s opening for the meeting.
We’ll be setting up our Virtual Center, start planning for the 2009 Better World Conference and organizing our Workshop Series. For the Virtual Center, we are trying to build a online database and a collection of blogs to record student projects that are done in and out of the classroom. For the Conference we are looking for students to lead and make this conference your conference. It has been a great experience for the 8 students who were involved with it and have gotten the chance to hangout with the best of the best in the social design field. Finally, the workshop series is going to be an on going program to bring together students from both schools and the local Providence Community.

Today I met with the President of the Providence Chamber of CommerceLaurie White to ask her how to get RISD students to get started with an “ultra-light” creative business here in Providence, RI. Laurie said she could do it in 59 seconds, and although we went a little bit over you can see how simple it really is.
This Hermann Ramke’s German invention is a 150hp floating pump that powers the water jetpack. Unlike regular jetpacks this water propelled invention can run for hours and can reach speed of 40 mph and can travel up to 200 miles before running out of fuel….. all for 160000 pounds. awesome…
